The Area and Local Attractions
The area around Swanage is magnificent. Poole and Bournemouth are close by, linked by the famous Sandbanks ferry, whilst nearby Studlands offers a Blue Flag beach managed by The National Trust. Only a few miles north lie the picturesque village of Corfe Castle. You can either walk there across the Purbeck Hills, or go more relaxed on the Swanage steam train. Slightly further afield are the towns of Wareham, Wimborne, Dorchester, and Weymouth. All are worthy of a visit.
Swanage itself is charming with time seeming to have passed it by, but in a nice way. It has a very Enid Blyton feel. The beach is first class, safe, and ideal for family days out, whilst the shops in the town centre are close by when you are ready for some retail therapy.
The walk from the caravan down into the town will take about twenty minutes.
If you have never been to this area before I have not yet met anyone who has not been smitten by the place.
